The Granary is a wonderful barn conversion surrounded by a patchwork of green and brown fields, between the Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley AONB. The property is located on an active farm. It is just four miles away from the market town of Tavistock, playing host to a diverse range of shops and places to eat and entertain you. This reverse-level accommodation makes the most of the countryside views encompassing the exterior, with a lovely garden at the back, ideal for families and large groups. The open-plan living room showcases a stunning high-vaulted ceiling and Velux windows bringing in the natural light overhead. There is lots of comfy seating and bright splashes of colour each way you turn. The kitchen boasts a contemporary design, with elegant wall cabinets, a breakfast bar and under cupboard lighting. Next door, the dining table sits proudly in the centre of the room, waiting to serve the delicious family meal. Down the staircase you will find the bedrooms, along with a utility hosting a washing machine and a WC / cloakroom. Three small steps take you up into the first bedroom, which occupies a super-king size bed and a travel cot for those travelling with a little one. There is even a highchair in the dining room and a stairgate to keep them secure. The rest of the bedrooms mirror this layout with a super king-size bed and they each come with a beautiful en-suite bathroom. Choose to soak in the bath tub after a long walk or refresh under the shower before breakfast. You can even take advantage of the lavish hot tub outside on the patio. Enjoy a peaceful, countryside soak with a refreshing glass of wine waiting for you when you brave getting out. Those feeling energetic can play a game of tennis on the owner's tennis court close by and there is even a selection of games for the kids. Beyond the tennis court is a large grassy area leading down to the stream that you are welcome to explore. There are some wonderful walking routes on Dartmoor, with wild, open moorland and an ever-changing landscape. You can horse ride, cycle, fish and even hire a canoe on the River Dart. Visit the National Trust's Lydford Gorge and enjoy a woodland trail with the whole family; there are many photo opportunities to be had at the beautiful Whitelady Waterfall. Further afield is Plymouth, the Eden Project and the beaches of Devon and North Cornwall. A quality break for large groups, families and friends, in a picturesque location.

The Granary Reviews

A lovely place to stay. Spacious, quiet, cosy and lovely interior design. Used the tennis court and hot tub, lovely walks and lamb watching. We didn't want to leave.
Sharon
Lovely accommodation, everything you could need. Space enough for 3 generations of our family and the dog . Hot tub and log burner were greatly appreciated.
Amanda
I would say that the photos could be retaken as they really don't do the place justice it is much more beautiful in real life and also seems much bigger. We had a lovely stay there. There was an initial problem with communication as I was only given a landline and the line was down so in future I would suggest having 2 means of communicating with the owner to avoid any stress.
Lovely spacious cottage in a quiet location, but not too far from town by car! Very comfortable for our family group of 8 with plenty of space for us all. Four good sized bedrooms and each with their own ensuite bathroom. Super clean and light and airy upstairs living accommodation. Tennis courts and hot tub an added bonus.
Amazing place. Facilities were ideal for the three couples that made up our party, with 3 double bedrooms similarly equipped, each with generously large ensuite. Everything was modern and clean. There was a 4th bedroom, which we didn't need, and the living area was geared up for 8. The 'Upsidedown' layout worked well with great views from the living area. The large hot tub permanently on was also great. The location means you need transport to get anywhere, but also it is very peaceful. Two miles away the 'Blacksmith Arms' in Lamerton does outstanding food. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the cottage. If I had to suggest improvements, the ONLY thing I can suggest was to put covers on the toilet seats in the en suites.

It was clear this property has been decorated and equipped with a lot of thought and care. It is beautiful and homely and well equipped. We had an issue as one of the beds had broken but the owner responded immediately when called. There were a couple of other minor issues the can opener definitely needs replacing and given the UK weather, it would be helpful to have somewhere under cover including over the spa bath outside. The hob is temperamental at times and turns itself off but these were minor issues. The stairs to the bedrooms are not great if you have any mobility issues, which is a shame because with a through floor lift or even just a bannister it would be way more accessible. Overall however the group was unanimous that next time we return to the area we are hoping to return there.
Natasha
What a lovely property. The bedrooms were spacious with the added bonus of all being ensuite which was perfect for our double family getaway. There was ample space in the garden for our dogs with some nice walks in the surrounding fields. The property had all the amenities you'd expect to find from a super host. I can't even say it was a negative but there wasn't teally enough work top space in the kitchen when your catering for up to 8 people, but we made it work. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and revisit on another occasion.
Matthew
Very nice accommodation, very well presented. Great for families, the boys loved the Tennis court. The hot tub was lovely, a very peaceful place to relax and unwind.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful with each room have a superking bed and ensuite. The kitchen has everything you would need and the lounge is very comfortable. Outside there is an excellent hot tub and patio area! Would fully recommend.
Natasha
Wonderful property, fantastic for a family holiday with 6 of us. Plenty of bedrooms and space for everyone. Would highly recommend!
Ideal property for a family gathering. Plenty of space inside and outside in a lovely, quiet location. Large comfortable beds with the flexibility of twins or super king size. Excellent dining room. We would definitely consider a return visit.
Graham
We had a lovely time at the Granary ,,Celebrating my 80thBirthday !
Deborah
Perfect for our family gathering with our adult children and partners. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable large beds with plenty of bathrooms. Hot tub working well. Delightful setting close to Tavistock and the moor for walking. Only usual minor issues with holiday rentals eg frying pan no longer non stick ,chopping knives not great easy enough to bring your own.
Gorgeous property that has been furnished to a high standard. Really spacious, high ceilings and lovely views with a cosy log fire and two smart TVs. Bedrooms and each ensuite bathroom lovely quality. It was the perfect place in the countryside for our family Christmas. Only slight downside and this would not stop us returning was no toilet on living level of the upside down property so my Mum struggled with going down the stairs during the day. Also chopping knives and frying pan could do with an upgrade we would take our own in future but bear in mind induction hob. No hairdryers so take your own. But we loved it, would recommend and will definitely return. Easily the nicest place we have stayed in. Tavistock only a few miles away is a lovely market town where you can get everything you need.

An excellent property. Exceptionally comfortable 6 beds in every room. A separate dining room was very useful. Very helpful owners who dealt with a lack of internet for several days. Changes that would make this a 5star place are Desperate need for a drying machine, several toilets do not have a lid not healthy. Extractor in on bathroom not working. Track leading to property has a few pot holes that would benefit from being gravelfilled.
Fabulous property in a lovely quiet location, but access to lots of places we wanted to visit within an hours drive Polperro, Eden Project, Padstow, Brixham, Dartmoor. Well equipped kitchen possibly the best we have ever had we like to cook on holiday from scratch. Very clean generally. Best bedrooms we have ever had on holiday super king size beds, excellent mattresses, nice sized en suites. Nice garden with good sized table and of course the hot tub. Brilliant to have access to other parts of the property for the dogs to have a run they loved the stream.
Lovely property in a rural setting. Very quiet. Comfortable for 8 people. The kitchen was a bit small and more casserole dishes and larger vegetable serving dishes are needed as we cooked mainly.
You would think that it could be difficult to impress eight friends, all well traveled and a touch fussy. The Granary smashed it! The property is exactly as described and more, immaculate, luxurious and beautifully situated in the Devonshire countryside. Every bedroom is stunning, with quality linen and first class ensuites. As tennis players, we made full use of the tennis court, followed by relaxing in the hot tub. We cooked each evening and thoroughly enjoyed socialising together in the dining room, before settling into the lounge area with our coffees. The large TV meant we could all cheer on the English Roses in their quarter final
The Granary is a beautiful and spacious cottage with an ample garden area and large hot tub. The beds were extremely comfortable with an ensuite for every room. The cottage was spotlessly clean and provided plenty of lounge and dining seating for at least 10 people. We had a minor issue with the hot water, but the plumber was there within half an hour to resolve the problem amazing service! We really enjoyed our stay at The Granary and would definitely recommend its five star luxury.
Outstanding property. Rare to find four bedrooms of equal size and quality, all ensuite and with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Spacious livingkitchen area and huge dining room, ideal for family meals. Nice outdoor area, great hottub and the added bonus of a tennis court. Properties are often less impressive than online photos suggest, this one exceeded everyone's expectations. The only improvement would be a toilet on the same level as the living area, but the lack of one does not detract from the 5 star rating, as this was made clear when we booked.

We have just had a wonderful Easter holiday at the Granary. The barn is beautifully designed and equipped, as well as being in a very peaceful situation. Warm and cosy with very comfortable beds. Special highlights for us were the hot tub and the log fire. The owners were kind and helpful and provided everything we needed. Just watch out for the potholes!
Charlotte
Such a beautiful property and location. The beds were really comfortable and it was lovely to have so much space with two families staying together. The kids loved the tennis courts and the hot tub was a real treat as well. There really was everything we needed and more.
We were a party of 8 adults and cooked dinner each evening. We found we were missing a few basic cooking requirements, I.e. tablespoon, wooden spoon, large serving dishes, an extra frying pan etc.
Clean, bright, in excellent repair, with pristine linen, this holiday home was perfect for our family get together. The highchair and cot provided were terrific. We used one of the bedrooms, other than the master, for the cot, as our granddaughter settles better outwith her parents room. The facilities for cooking were just enough for family meals for 5 adults. Sadly we couldn't all make it to the holiday, so not 6 adults, just 5. Dog friendly home and garden. We walked to the Blacksmiths Arms daily, and to chipshop, and Rentor during the week, and had days out at Polperro and the Eden Project. Your home is ideally placed for those trips.
The cottage was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations. The property itself was immaculate inside and very comfortable with everything provided that you could wish for. The grounds were absolutely amazing and there was so much to explore and the tennis court was a fantastic bonus too. The owners were very helpful and friendly and responsive to any request we had and I would highly recommend staying here as a base to explore the stunning Devon countryside and coast.
Nicola
Outstanding property. Very well appointed. Exceeded expectations. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful. Good base for visiting local area.
Superb accommodation throughout and we enjoyed a lovely family get together for a week. The hot tub and tennis court were additional bonuses. Location great for Dartmoor, access to both north and south coasts and Tavistock, a lovely town a few miles away. Would definitely return.
An excellent location to explore West Devon, Dartmoor and Eastern Cornwall. The property is very well appointed, quiet and in excellent order. The one criticism that I have is that the shower tended to be very slippery perhaps antislip mats could be provided?
The granary is a fabulous place, ideal for four couples or friends sharing. Beautifully appointed.
We had a family holiday and needed somewhere with space and the granary was well set out,as rooms all had their own bathrooms. The owners were very helpful when I needed some kitchen equipment, and we enjoyed the use of the tennis court, and hot tub.

Fantastic property. Well equipped, lovely beds and bedding. Log burner was really lovely and we enjoyed the hot tub and tennis court.
Lovely property in ideal location. Would have been 5 stars but one of our party was slightly disabled so no toilet on main floor was a slight issue but otherwise couldnt recommend highly enough. Would happily revisit
Absolutely gorgeous property and location. Spotlessly clean and everything there beds were really comfy! Would love to return
A fantastic place to meet with family and friends. All bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms similar. Fittings all excellent quality. Would not hesitate to recommend and stay again.
Beautiful property, spacious, very comfortable, well equipped, beautiful location. Would happily return, & highly recommend.
Michael
The property is excellent and well thought out. We loved the stay. Only thing to say is that a few more kitchen items would help eg a whisk but thats literally it!
Sheila
Extras like hot tub and tennis courts
Louise
Accomodation perfect. Had a fantastic stay with the family.
Deborah
What a fantastic, peaceful location! A great base to explore both Devon and Cornwall. High quality accommodation with extra touches that made us feel so welcome. We made good use of both the hot tub and the tennis courts. I wouldnt hesitate in booking this cottage again.
