The Vicarage in Cromer Reviews

We stayed for a week from 25th July 2025. On arrival the house looked unloved and the garden was well overdue some attention! The house is looking tired and abit grubby. The back garden was overgrown, there was a fence panel missing and the neighbours can see straight into the hot tub area, there was some wood from the fence just left on the ground with nails sticking up, not at all child friendly! There was a very slimy patio area from a leaking pipe. There was sand in the hot tub on arrival and it was murky, the guy did come out but the problem was not resolved ! We could not find the window keys to ensure they were locked upstairs for the children’s safety! The hot tap on the sink upstairs doesn’t turn on, the shower head was broken and leaks everywhere. There’s also no oven gloves which makes removing hot items from the oven a challenge with the very thin tea towels: The one thing in its favour is it is close to the town centre.

We faced similar problems to previous reviews with overflowing bins and a pile of loose full bin bags on the driveway! We did complain and the owner did collect the bin bags that were on the front driveway the next day. We managed to catch the bin lorry on our first morning which helped with recycling rubbish. The house itself was not clean upon arrival, bits on the floor and work surfaces, biscuit crumbs in cupboards, dirty fridge and oven so the first trip was to Morrisons to purchase cleaning products. With the bins and the poor cleanliness it was not an ideal start. The fourth or downstairs bedroom was nearly unusable, it looks like a garage conversation and was unbelievably cold all the time. A real chill in the room that no amount of heating could shift. The black mould in the downstairs ensuite was also not ideal. Other issues that you wouldn't expect with a property of this price bracket, no oven gloves, dirty dishwasher that needed the traps emptying, this is probably what caused the film on all plates, bowls and glasses which was another issue. Only one front door key was pretty restrictive with 4 people in the house. The patio door would not lock from the outside. Dog hairs all over the settees. There was no welcome pack, not even a pint of milk which was a first for us in all our bookings. This is our 4th new year in Cromer which was fantastic again. The house just feels unloved and was not welcoming. Unfortunately the Vicarage is not a luxury house as advertised and in my opinion does not represent value for money.
