Get More From Your Catfield Hot Tub Cottage Break

Booking cottages with hot tubs in Catfield puts you right in the heart of the Norfolk Broads with access to waterways and wildlife that make this area special. This small village sits between Hickling Broad and Barton Broad and gives you a proper slice of rural Norfolk life without the tourist crowds you'll find in busier spots.

We think Catfield works brilliantly for hot tub breaks because you get that remote self catering feel whilst still being close to coastal towns like Sea Palling and Horsey. After a day exploring the Broads or walking the beaches you can sink into your private hot tub and actually relax. The village itself dates back to Saxon times and the name comes from "Catt's Field" in old records.

Sightseeing in Catfield

The area around Catfield has transformed from working marshland into one of Britain's most important wetland habitats. You'll spot the distinctive round-towered church of All Saints which is typical of Norfolk's medieval architecture. The village sits on higher ground overlooking the Broads and you can see for miles across the flat landscape.

Top 5 Attractions You Have to See in Catfield

Whether you're after romantic breaks or planning a large family getaway there's plenty to keep everyone busy. From nature reserves to historic windmills the attractions here focus on the unique landscape and wildlife of the Broads.

Hickling Broad National Nature Reserve

This is the largest of the Norfolk Broads at 1400 acres and it's managed by Norfolk Wildlife Trust. You can take boat trips to see the reed beds up close or walk the trails to spot marsh harriers and swallowtail butterflies. The visitor centre has a viewing platform that gives you panoramic views across the water.

Barton Broad

Just west of Catfield this is the second largest broad and it's brilliant for sailing and fishing. The water quality has improved massively over recent years and you'll see great crested grebes and common terns nesting here. There are several boat hire companies if you fancy getting out on the water yourself.

Horsey Windpump

This National Trust drainage mill stands four storeys tall and you can climb to the top for views across Horsey Mere. The windpump was built in 1912 and restored after a lightning strike in 1943. Grey seals often come ashore at nearby Horsey Beach between November and January which makes for an incredible wildlife experience.

How Hill National Nature Reserve

This estate covers 365 acres of woodland and marshes with nature trails that take you through different habitats. The Victorian mansion houses an environmental education centre and you can book trips on the Electric Eel which is a traditional Broads boat. It's about 15 minutes drive from Catfield and works well for a half day visit.

Sea Palling Beach

This Blue Flag beach sits about 6 miles east of Catfield and has golden sand backed by dunes. The offshore reef creates calmer swimming conditions than other Norfolk beaches. There's a decent car park and a few cafes but it never gets as packed as the bigger coastal resorts.
